Our facilitators address topics such as Stress-Management, Co-Dependency, Emotional Intelligence, and Managing Motherhood. Here, you will find out all you need to know about our speaker series, how they work, and why they are essential.
The workshops provided by WOC Therapy facilitators create a safe and secure environment for participants to explore various topics. The main goal is to make self-improvement and self-search achievable for a large number of people using a wide array of tools and techniques. Workshops have proven to be effective for individuals to open up and talk about their problems and issues in front of other people with similar experiences.
We provide a series of workshops for women of color regarding self-care, managing anxiety, motherhood, emotional intelligence, and diversity and inclusion. Workshops range from 60 minutes to full-day seminars.
In this workshop, you will learn tools for improved self-care, including stress-management, grounding exercises and goal planning. Our therapists have years of experience helping teens and women build more confidence and self-love. Studies show that relationships and work performance thrive when we are practicing self-care. The primary purpose of these workshops is to support women who are experiencing burnout, workplace stress, and low self-esteem. We create a safe space for women to tell their stories and feel validated for their lived experiences.
Women of color are more likely to develop anxiety disorders due to the discrimination and micro-aggressions they encounter daily. Coping with gender and race discrimination on a daily basis from early childhood is a significant and unique risk factor in developing anxiety and depression. This workshops examines the biological and environmental causes of anxiety and effective tools for managing anxiety.
The relationship between a mother and a daughter can be complex. With our expert therapist, you will learn how to have a healthy and profound connection with your daughter or mother. In these workshops, where participants are mothers and daughters, you will learn how to communicate your feelings, desires, and problems effectively. Every relationship can experience problems in communication. This is why it is important to learn how to share, put yourself in other people’s shoes, and understand how the other person feels and what her needs and struggles are.
Psychological abuse in a relationship and general abuse in a relationship is something many of us can experience. Getting out of a relationship that is harming us and our well-being is never easy and can take a long time. Individuals who have experienced some form of violence and abuse are likely to become violent themselves or end up in a violent relationship. That is why it is vital to work preventively on this particular problem.
Breaking the cycle of abuse through a series of workshops and events will help young girls and women who have been victims of abuse and violence not to pass on this kind of behavior to the next generation. This doesn’t mean that every victim of violence will become violent per se, only that if traumas are not dealt with adequately, they can become an issue in later life. In these workshops, you will learn about your emotional blueprint – how you learned to love and deal with emotions, and how these patterns continue in your life.

Skeptical about therapy? Not sure if it’s right for you or if it will actually work? I honestly felt the same way before meeting Tamika; whether you’re going through a tough period in life or just wanting to get more in tune with yourself and live your best life…Tamika delivers. She is passionate about her work and makes you feel comfortable and safe. She feels more like a friend than a therapist and you walk away from the session feeling relieved and lifted. Thank you Tamika for being you and putting so much compassion and care in what you do
As a woman of color, it was extremely important to me to find someone who understood my day to day life experiences. I not only found that with WOC Therapy, but specifically with Tamika. I found an educated, kind, understanding, and incredibly helpful therapist who has been by my side during one of the most significant changes in my life.
I am truly grateful for WOC Therapy and Tamika Lewis! Thank you!!!
Tamika took me on as a client at the height of the pandemic. I knew that I needed more emotional balance with the unforeseen events of the pandemic, racial unrest movement, and a very eventful political campaign. I knew talking to a woman who looked liked me would help with carrying the load of 2020 and going forward. I had no clue how bad it would get but the only thing that pulled me through was knowing that I would be able to release so many emotions on a biweekly basis. I knew I needed someone that could see me when I couldn’t see myself and help guide my through what felt like a never ending emotional rollercoaster. I am so grateful for Tamika and all that she does to be in support of black women by helping to keep us mentally balanced and emotionally aware! She has a way of holding me accountable of my thoughts and feelings that I appreciate so much. So grateful for finding Dr. Tamika Lewis!
